Biography

Dr. Sarah Otterson is a Pediatric Epileptologist at the Ϲ. She completed her residency in Child Neurology at the University of New Mexico, where she also served in resident leadership roles. She earned her medical degree from the University of Queensland School of Medicine–Ochsner Clinical School, a master’s degree in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University.

Research Interests

Dr. Otterson’s research focuses on helping children with epilepsy receive better, safer, and more effective care. She has studied how brain activity is recorded during seizures, how seizure treatments can be improved, and how the cost of epilepsy medications affects patients and families. She has also worked on projects to improve hospital care for seizures and to better understand conditions that can look like seizures, such as functional neurologic symptoms. Overall, her work aims to support clearer diagnosis, more timely treatment, and better outcomes for children with neurologic conditions.
