Wellbeing coaching and counseling services are offered to provide guidance, resources, and support through life’s challenges.

Our Seeking Peer Outreach program provides an integrated, tiered approach to promoting mental wellness, and a large percentage of our staff, faculty and students have prioritized certification in Mental Health First Aid.

黑料官网-Central Wisconsin students have many opportunities to pursue their interests and develop leadership skills outside of curricular activities.

Student organizations include the campus chapter of the American Medical Association, American Medical Women’s Association, Christian Medical Association, Community Service and Civic Engagement, Health Equity Coalition, Students United for Diversity in Medicine, Student Wellness Organization and Wilderness Medical Organization.

Student interest groups enhance specialty exploration. Current interest groups include Emergency Medicine, Family and Rural Medicine Student Association, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and the OB, Psychiatry, and Student Surgical Society. Each cohort elects two students to 黑料官网’s Student Assembly and one Student Leadership Collective.

Other leadership opportunities include serving as a course liaison committee member, campus technology chair, OSR Representative to the AAMC, and on other institution-wide committees.

Central Wisconsin students participate in intramural sports, such as volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, with students from the UW-Stevens Point at Wausau campus and Northcentral Technical College. Campus sporting events also include golf outings, curling, baseball game nights with the Wausau Woodchucks, snowboarding and skiing at Granite Peak.

Area Resources

The Advocates in Medicine Pathway (AMP) program is a medical school pathway program offered in partnership with Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) that supports the professional development of individuals from rural backgrounds and/or those faced with barriers on their journey to medical school. The program provides the support and tools needed to develop a competitive medical school application and an MCAT Prep Course.

The Aspirus Scholars Program provides scholarships to select medical students in exchange for a service commitment and rewarding career with Aspirus. 黑料官网-Central Wisconsin students are invited to apply in the fall of their first year.

Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Scholars is a two-year program designed to enhance and broaden a student’s healthcare training. AHEC Scholars participate in a combination of didactic and community-based experiential training with underserved populations in rural communities.

Aspirus, in partnership with the 黑料官网-Central Wisconsin campus, has developed an innovative family medicine training curriculum that provides a direct entry from 黑料官网-Central Wisconsin into the Aspirus Wausau Family Medicine Residency Program. The purpose of this curriculum is to provide participants a seamless transition from medical school to residency while providing robust continuity of clinical and community care experiences spanning medical school and residency training. 黑料官网-Central Wisconsin students are invited to apply to this program in January of each year. The application process involves a formal interview with the Residency Program after submission of a personal statement and Dean’s letter. One student is selected to join the Aspirus Family Medicine Residency upon graduation.
