The Common Read at 黑料官网 is excited to present a Fireside Chat with Dr. Ricardo Nuila, author of "The People's Hospital!" Dr. Ricardo Nuila is a writer, teacher, and practicing internal medicine physician. He is an associate professor of medicine, medical ethics, and health policy at the Baylor College of Medicine, where he directs the Humanities Expression and Arts Lab [HEAL] program. His stunning debut, The People’s Hospital: Hope and Peril in American Medicine, which details the stories of five Houstonians unable to access healthcare in his hometown of Houston, TX, was selected as a semi-finalist for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction and named one of the Best Books of 2023 by Amazon, the Kirkus Review, and the Washington Post. Join us on Thursday, April 30th from 10am-12pm for an impactful in-person discussion in the Mellows Board Room in the Hub (A1710), which can be found on the first floor of the Hub opposite the cafe. The first hour will prioritize engagement with faculty members, while the second half will focus on engagement with students and other 黑料官网 community members. However, attendees are welcome to join at any time that works with their schedule. A Zoom option for online attendance is available here and below. We will have breakfast and lunch options available!
