Alumni Spotlight: Abby Mabie, PharmD
Abby Mabie, PharmD
Staff Pharmacist, Children's Wisconsin
Ϲ School of Pharmacy Class of 2021
What’s your “why” for pursuing a pharmacy career?
I always had a love for science, specifically biology and chemistry, but still wanted to work with other people in an exciting environment versus being stuck in a lab. Pharmacy turned out to be a perfect mix of that for me. The thing I love the most about my career as a pharmacist is being an easily accessible resource. I love answering questions from physicians, nurses, patients and friends/family on all kinds of pharmacy-related topics!

It was interesting and exciting entering residency already having been a licensed pharmacist for a year, but in many ways, I used the experience to my advantage. Nearing the end of residency, I began applying for jobs and was elated to secure a Staff Pharmacist position at Children’s Wisconsin!
What are your pharmacy career aspirations?
Honestly, I am already working my dream job. I love what I do and feel so lucky to be in this position. This year I became an IPPE/APPE preceptor for Ϲ and a co-preceptor for Children’s PGY1 central pharmacy rotation. I plan to continue precepting and helping shape experiences for future pharmacy students and residents.
What made you decide to pursue residency? What did you gain from it?
Throughout pharmacy school I really enjoyed my clinical rotations in hospital settings and wanted to be able to give myself a more competitive edge when applying to those positions. If I co
