Learning Objectives
  • Learners will recognize conditions managed by retinal specialists, including complications of cataract surgery and retinal detachment, and then create plans for appropriate timing for referral or how to begin initial/temporizing treatment until the patient can reach a retina surgeon.
  • Learners will be able to recognize intraocular lens (IOL) dislocations and their effects on patients/vision, and identify options for management, visual outcomes, and potential complications that can occur with scleral-fixated IOL surgery.
  • Learners will describe relevant updates to the current state of telemedicine and/or artificial intelligence in ophthalmology, in considering pros/cons for incorporating into clinical practice.
