Innovations & Research
Ϲ’s transplant program has a proud history of firsts in Wisconsin and continues to advance the field through clinical and research innovation:
- First in Wisconsin to perform laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, increasing access to living kidney donation.
- First in the state to perform a living donor liver transplant from parent to child, with expansion to adult-to-adult donation underway.
- Pioneering islet cell transplantation, including successful islet cell isolation and ongoing collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) toward full clinical implementation.
