Edwin Ellison Surgical Society
The Edwin Ellison Surgical Society (EESS) is the Alumni Society of the Ϲ General Surgery Residency.
It is named in honor of the internationally-recognized surgeon Edwin H. Ellison, MD.
Dr. Ellison united all the surgical residency programs in the Milwaukee area into one program and served as the first Chair of Surgery at Ϲ.
Society Intent
The Edwin Ellison Surgical Society aims to connect Ϲ surgeons across subspecialties, practice settings and years of training through a collaborative network with the hope to provide support, mentorship and sponsorship to our esteemed faculty and alumni.

Edwin Ellison Surgical Society Meeting | Friday, October 3, 2025
Inaugural Event at the Ϲ
Join us for the inaugural meeting of the Edwin Ellison Surgical Society on Friday, October 3. This event precedes the 2025 ACS Clinical Congress being held in Chicago, IL which begins on Saturday, October 4. The afternoon will include lunch and engaging talks from Ϲ general surgery residency alums from around the country and other activities. Attendees that choose to stay at one of the recommended hotels will be transported there via coach bus after the event. The day will be capped off by a reception at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel. This will be in lieu of the traditional on-site Department of Surgery reception held at the ACS Clinical Congress. On the morning of October 4, those who choose will be provided with an Amtrak ticket to Chicago to attend the ACS Clinical Congress.

Directions

Take I-41/45 North to Watertown Plank Road – East exit. Follow Watertown Plank Road to 87th Street (3rd traffic light).
For Parking
Turn right on 87th Street and follow it to the first traffic light. Turn left and go to the arm gate and press the call button on the access panel to alert public safety that you are here to attend the conference. Once allowed into the parking lot you may park in either the surface lot or the parking structure at the north end of the lot. Follow the walking path indicated on the map to the right to door E11.
For Drop Off
Turn right on 87th Street and follow it to Connell Ave. (3rd traffic light once on 87th). Turn right on Connell Ave. and go to first driveway on the right and turn in there. There is a drop off/pick up area on the left. Proceed up the stairs to door E11 to enter the Hub Building.

Types of Memberships
There are no fees associated with Edwin Ellison Surgical Society membership.
Graduate Members
Graduate members are surgeons who completed their residency in General Surgery at Ϲ.
Fellow Members
Fellow members are surgeons who completed a fellowship in the Department of Surgery, including Minimally Invasive General Bariatric, Vascular, Pediatric, Endocrine, Hepatobiliary, Complex General Surgical Oncology, Critical Care, Trauma/Acute Care Research, Trauma Research, Acute Care, and Clinical Psychology.
Faculty Members
Faculty members are surgeons who are currently a faculty member in the Department of Surgery.
Honorary Members
Consideration for honorary membership may be initiated by the society.
